The chairman of the committee of experts currently working on a harmonized draft constitution described the calls as misguided, saying the country was in a reform mood and such calls would only derail the ongoing review process.
Lands minister James Orengo claimed it was the numerous piecemeal reforms enacted since independence that had resulted in the current problems facing the country and urged Kenyans to push for a total over haul of the constitution. The calls for minimum reforms got support from none other than retired president Daniel Arap Moi.
