  • Nothing like working on your transitions to get maximum benefit from your triathlon results.

  • Fair enough. Thanks for the info.

  • In the interest of enlightenment...the difference between anything petroleum based and non-petroleum based is important. When I was buying my wetsuit at one of the leading triathlete gear stores in San Francisco, the guy that was fitting me recommended PAM as well, and he's been coaching tri teams for 10 years. Google the term "+wetsuit +pam" and you'll find site after site of experienced triathletes and tri organizations recommending PAM, and these are people who pay fo their gear like us.

  • If Ms. Lindquist had all the answers then I suppose her surname would be Wellington and not Lindquist.

For those of us that don't get free wetsuits, and want to replace a broken down wetsuit every year, the use of techniques that don't require messy cooking oil are more effective. On the other hand, if you need to shave .002 seconds off your transition time, and get free gear from your sponsors, spray away.

Either way, do a Google search about cooking spray and enlighten yourself.

  • Given that she's a pretty fairly accomplished athlete that's been around the tri-block, I thiiiiiink she might have some idea of what she's talking about. Most likely more than you. It's not the first time I've heard of PAM as an anti-chafing wetsuit aid.

  • I don't think using cooking spray to put on a wetsuit is great advice. It's not necessary to put on a wetsuit, makes a mess and can be bad for the wetsuit. Using BodyGlide or something similar at chaff points is the best and most common approach.
