  • Without doubt that car is the uglyist thing putting in a half decent performance i have ever seen since Susan Boyle appeared on the X Factor. But i do have one question as i never knew Citroen had a group B car. Were Peugeot/Citroen part of the same company back in those days and if so why did Citroen bother when Peugeot had the 205 T16.

  • @jasemat because 4TC was oponnent for audi quatro

  • what ? other cars drived for 5 yrs , citroen drived only 3 races get 6th place

  • Judging by this video, there was plenty of potential. Had Gr.B not been canned, this car may have had another go. Besides, most race cars have their share of teething troubles during their early races. Which is why not everyone immediately jumped on the bandwagon when Audi started using 4WD. It took time to get it running reliably. The BX4TC was not a bad effort. It just needed more time than fate allowed.

  • why bx 4tc doesn't runs on others 1986 rallyes?

  • @spythers As a result, Citroën was understandably ashamed of the performance of its cars, and immediately recalled and scrapped as many examples as it could, making the BX 4TC road and race cars extremely rare and sought-after.

  • @jasemat Sorry, I don´t know wich cars weren´t built. When I said "promoting" I was talking about "what the companies were capable of, from an engineering point of view.", of course, after that, they sell or not. This BX4TC proved to be inefficient (underpowered for its weight, too big and difficult to handle...) and they hadn´t time to develop it (only a few months).

  • @spythers Fair comment, but the only road going examples of any Group B cars were those sold to satisfy the homologation requirements ( and according to a few not even all of those were ever built ) so they weren't promoting any products they were selling, Sure they showcased what the companies were capable of from an engineering point of view.

Did the Citroen project get binned due to the banning of Group B or did they build it for 3 races and then not bother taking it any further???

  • @volvoapina Let me remind you when Audi first appeared, they also had a lot of bad results. The difference is that Audi had much more time (5 or 6 years) and better drivers to develop the Quattro S1 and the SportQuattro S2...

  • @jasemat At the Group B era, rally cars were not made to look great or beautiful, they were made to be light, powerful and functional.

"Were Peugeot/Citroen part of the same company back in those days and if so why did Citroen bother when Peugeot had the 205 T16. "

Think a little: how two companies (even if they make part of the same company) promote their products?

  • I think it looks awesome and pretty quick too!!

  • @volvoapina

Look at the oponnent start, I belive it was same, they needed some time to learn how to drive new car, they had manny losses since they all startec to win same with BX 4TC EVO. If it would be 1-2y more am sure it would be good, maybe not the best, but it would do it's just fairly.

  • Indeed a forgotten legend. On thing I like about the French people is that they tend to do things in a little different way than the others (Peugeot was an exception what comes to rallying). I would've liked to see this car competing in more races.
