8/22/08 I met Hawking today for some video and new pictures. Wow, does he ever move! He hops his back feet across the rough surfaces and drags them on smooth floors. This dog is energetic, upbeat, and he smiles a lot, too. With those crazy tall ears he is much more than a pit bull, so I am going to take a chance and give him the secondary listing I think he deserves as a mixed Welsh Corgi, red brindle in color. -Steve
Meet adorable Hawking, a 5 month old baby male pit bull. He was found as a stray and is as cute as a button. Hawking has rear end paralysis, which was a birth defect. He is able to get around quite nicely despite his defect. We have been told that in all likelihood, he will not need a device to walk when he matures. He schelps his legs around and manages to get into mischief. Quite the clown, this Hawking. Please come and meet him and open your heart. Disabled dogs need love too.

  • He looks like a purebred pit bull terrier, just with a deformity. So glad to see he's adopted!

  • There are some good people out there. When I first saw this dog trying to walk, my reaction was like OMG, why didn't they just put it to sleep! For once, I was glad not to be making the life and death decisions.

  • The name sorta makes me laugh. I'd only euthanize for quality of life or aggression issues, neither of which this little dude has. A cart would work well for him. Tough little guy.

  • Exactly. Quality of life or aggression. Except that a know-nothing like myself could easily have made a wrong snap-decision on either issue. Well, not the aggression part, not for Hawking, but I really would have questioned his quality of life. The cart is a great idea. I hope the owners already thought of it, 'cause I am not allowed to even know who they are.

  • such a GORGEOUS baby

  • What spirit he has! Hawking finally got adopted. Several people though they could take him, but his handicap was just too much and all the others backed out.
