Great video. I fully agree with what you are saying. I primarily dj weddings and adult parties and run into requests for songs that I don't feel are appropriate for the event. I've had request from guest for Lollipop or Sugar (from Trick Daddy).
Some request have come from the bride/groom/wedding party. Djs must recog. that we have a reputation and image that we have to protect. I have several responses prepared including, "Sorry, I don't have that one", "It's scratched and won't play", etc
I couldnt agree more with your thinking on this... I had a gig at a residence for memorial day weekend and had a young kid come up to me and ask me if i had the song die motherf***er die by dope... my mouth literally dropped and i too said nope and does your parents know about what you listen to... i try and weed out each month of promo-only music which the country hits are really good but there doesnt seem to be much mainstream music to work with these days..
I have a song list the students are working on which is a good thing that you do as well.
It seems to be getting harder to play edited music even at a 8th grade graduation party I did they wanted the hardcore music. I asked Mom and she said play them. I did not play Buckcherry tho and did crank dat at the end.
Yes, a very good video! I think your way of doing things avoids allot of that awkwardness that comes up in between the generations.
Also we need to remember that although these dances are for the students and arr organized by the students, the final say goes to the administration of the school and clarifying you position with the admis can really earn you huge brownie points for repeat gigs.

It is hard to try to please everyone.
I may do a log on Sat. dance if possible.
You are going in the correct direction.
