Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Jr. (born August 14, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan) is a retired American National Basketball Association (NBA) basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers. Before joining the NBA, the 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) point guard enjoyed success in NCAA college winning the title in 1979 with Michigan State University. With the Lakers, the 6'9", 225 pound Johnson established a successful career as he won five NBA championships, played in nine NBA Finals series, and was elected three times for both NBA Finals Most Valuable Player and NBA Most Valuable Player. Johnson also played in 12 All-Star games and was voted into 10 All-NBA First and Second Teams, and led the league in regular season assists four times.
Johnson is acknowledged as one of the most popular NBA basketball players of all time, being well-known for his uncanny passing and dribbling skills, and for his cheerful nature on and off the court. His fierce, but friendly rivalry with Boston Celtics forward Larry Bird rejuvenated the NBA and ushered in the era of million-dollar salaries. He was also a member of the Dream Team U.S. basketball team which won the Olympic gold medal in 1992. For his feats, Johnson was honored as one of the NBA 50 Greatest Players in 1996 and enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
lakers just cheating using the refs, part of nba marketing, the 83 sixers got least press of all time and swep lakers and celtics, one fo most dominant teams of all time, on len bias dying stopped celts from having 6 in 80s, and injuries got lakers quite a fwe, as well as massive homecourt calls

show time, fast break, team, pass, score. No team was like this Lakers. This team could put 120 on you any night.Magic is the greatest point guard ever period. Kareem the best center. Big game James! This team ruled, the made us cheer like maniacs and they broke our hearts. 9 finals in 12 years and 5 rings. What a great run.

@xTnT87 Magic may have helped him get there, but Kareem averaged 28.6 ppg before Magic ever came into the league, so no, Kareem is number one in points because of Kareem, not Magic.

Consider this- Abdul Jabber is the all time points leader for 1 reason... MAGIC!

@youz1uglybish oh, all right...in this case i agree with you...scottie pippen knew his role in the bulls so he played for the team to win... yes, that,s true.... i understood you bad, i,m sorry...

@jordanpo im not comparing there styles of play..im simply stating the fact that they had the same team 1st mentality! scottie pippen stat wise would have been much better without jordan because if you look back at the 90's on several other teams pippen had the talent to be the go to guy (1st option)! he played along side jordan because winning was more important than individual accolades! if kobe wasn't so selfish he could have won atleast 2 more championships with shaq this is the difference!

@youz1uglybish i dont hace your opinion about scottie pippen. he was a good player, specially in defense, of course. he help jordan to win 6 rings, of course, but you can,t compare magic johnson with pippen. magic was a play maker, pippen was a forward and dont forget jordan averaged more assists than pippen in all his career getting the double of points
