Well, while that is accurate in perspective (i started with this sonata on the pensum), it is still Beethoven. You must manage a wide variety of sounds and techniques. Doing it properly is really really hard.
Of course , Hammerklavier is harder than Emperor concerto.

@barnsie The first movement is not as technically demanding, but the third movement is the hardest one. Both technically and musically.
But this movement is simple compared to the other two.

Just thought I'd mention that Pathetique is one of the easiest Beethoven Sonatas. I also thought I'd mention that hammerklavier is probably the hardest piece Beethoven ever wrote. Plus no point in talking about technical demand, it doesn't say much about what the piece is worth. If that were the case all music not by Liszt and Alkan would be useless.
