  • Excellent mic skills. He really understood how to cut a promo.

  • the ring annoucer called him "Larse" lol

  • If anyone has any footage of Lars and Gene wrestling as the original Minnesota Wrecking Crew, please post them. I'd also love to see more of Ole and Gene together as well as Gene solo.

  • Up until this point, the only one of the Andersons I remember ever speaking was Ole. Darn sure never saw Gene speak. (Ole had the best mic skills).

  • Bobby Garrett: Leif Garrett's forgotten brother.

Leif Garrett: Bobby Garrett's forgotten brother.

  • @lawlersarmy I remember that also..it was on channel 36..The Black Cowboy a Dusty Rhodes clone was one of the stars as was his partner SuperSoul..Steve "The Kid" Collins was my favorite on there.

  • @SuperstarNeilC Not doubting it was printed..but how could that have been possible?

  • Lars Anderson is the type of wrestler I like.

He was once listed in the Guinness Book of Records (1979) as the Highest Paid professional wrestler - earning $4M over 3 years

  • The Andersons' gimmick was the tough guy wrestlers who did NOT use a set up finisher. Of course they did often end with arm locks, usually after dropping a million knees onto a hammer locked elbow.

But their deal was just beating you up and winning, instead of instilling fear with a hold like the claw, heart punch, figure four, etc... To my mind, this made them even more menacing.

Arn was the first to really have finishers like the gort-buster, spine buster and DDT, but he always worked the arm.

  • Actually in Japan, one variation is a common submission move known as the Fujiwara arm bar. Antonio Inoki used it as well, and Maxx Payne called it the Paynekiller during his tenure in WCW. Not to mention the Andersons (Ole, Gene, and Lars) all used variations as their finisher for years, usually preceded by a top rope kneedrop. Not the flashiest or most well known of finishers, but not entirely uncommon.
