OK since last post i decided to use a wrt54 from linksys with dd-wrt for voip turned off all firewalls etc and decided to run it through that, did the network reset and then changed the alternate tftp to yes and typed in the ip of the laptop/pc im trying to upload from and again the only files in the log are .cnf config files do these need to be in the folder as well? is it really supposed to be as easy as the video? are there servers etc being used? or am i really just missing somthing
Re downloaded the files the .txt still has P003-07-5-00 after unzipping the P0S3-07-5-00.zip from cisco. im not changing the files names only the .txt file to comply with the rest of the zip. if you have other zip which is correct please upload to rapid share or such like or email at scott@swissnet.co.uk as every zip i have downloaded to date all ways has P003 in the .txt no matter what P0S3 zip i download and like i said im downloading the P0S3 zips
Yes you need to download the SIP files from Cisco. Your OS79XX.txt file should say this P0S3-07-5-00
And you should have the P0S3-07-5-00 bin files in your TFTP root folder. These upgrade files should be from Cisco and not renamed from the P00 SCCP files. Make sure you can ping the phone from the TFTP server. Restart your TFTP program and make sure only one instance of it is running on the taskbar.
Download the SIP files from Cisco P0S3-07-5-00 and start fresh.
The OS79XX.txt file however refrences P003-07-5-00 so does all the other sip firmwares P003-08-8-00 is from the P0S3-08-8-00 zip so i have renamed these to tell the phone to take those files but from the tftp it looks like the phone does not request those files at all as there is no mention of upload or request of them.
So im confused that there maybe a boot sequence on the phone, or maybe i should look out for a key combo. or is there a way to force inject the firmware like a router?
@MrMv777 Thanks but let me give you a lil background info. Im setting this up in a home enviroment i have three computers linked to a router via lan all running windows 7 the phone is also connected to the router.
The firmware download is P0S3-07-5-00 as in the video just in case so i followed it to the T.
Inlcuded in that zip are P0S3-07-5-00.bin, P0S3-07-5-00.loads, P0S3-07-5-00.sb2, P0S3-07-5-00.sbn and another P0S3-07-5-00.bin but they reside in the same folder without problems.
That sounds like its your problem. There is a SIP download on Cisco. You only have the SCCP if you only have files P003. Look for the SIP upgrade on Cisco.com download section, try this one: P0S3-06-3-00.zip
@swissnetltd I will make my entire tftpboot directory available to anyone who asks.

@MrMv777 I have forced firmware before on WRT54 routers but worried of bricking the unit not sure if it will work and no guides for this.
Why couldnt cisco just have had a firmware upload option in the web gui?? damn cisco
I know tftp is great for large offices etc and i see many benefits.
I have two of the smae phones and both behave in this manner :-(
