dude u shouldnt have recorded or photographed the grand entry

There were loads of other people there recording and photographing it - including a TV crew. Also, plenty of people saw me and no one made any objection. But I'll be the first to honour and respect any traditions or rules - unwritten or otherwise. So, please tell me why I shouldn't have recorded the grand entry so I can bear it in mind in future.

uh its ok 2 record,most of the time,but not on certain songs,like the grand entry or honour songs.

Thanks for telling me. Maybe it would be a good idea for the MC to announce this, or for there to be signs up around the site telling people not to record certain parts of the ceremony. There's no way of knowing otherwise.

same here...i never heard such non sense about not taping the grand entry...lol..but i guess some peoples point of views are different..i know you can't tape the memorial specials and whistle carriers blowing on a drum. I always thought that the grand was a way to show other people about our culture......hoka!!!!

i was working seurity at the powwow last year at treaty four and we never put any signs or anything up there classifying that yopu couldnt video tape it but i can see where you guys are comming from

Where I live, it is disrespectful to record the grand entry. But I am kind of glad you did...so I could see it.
