Rudi Giuliani did order the steel to be melted, but not all. There was some set aside for analysis and were used to find out what happen. Did we really need to save 2k tons? No.

Steel looses 50% of it's strength at 1800 degrees and, like all metals, expands when headed. These expansions cased the steel beams to fail, not melt. None of the investigations into 9/11 has claimed that steel melted. Edna was standing at the bottom of the impact zone. If you ever taken basic science, you'd know heat and smoke and fire rises and blows wit the wind. Being on the receiving end of the wind, she would be away from most of the heat and smoke allowing her to live and wave.
