@fagiu Monzon was knock down 3 times in this fight

Monzón would have beaten Taylor,Abraham,Kelly and possibly Froch. However, he would have had a hard time against Hagler. Hagler's boxing style was the one that gave Monzón a lot of problems, remember Briscoe?. Though they never fought, you could made a case out of it.

@carbert68 By dangerously drying out back then. I boxed at 165b in amateurs and at 178 and once you made weight, you could eat and gain like 10 pounds so quick! You felt better too. Back then you dried out and the coaches didn't encourage fluids so much. Now fluids are pushed to flush the system, but it is true. Gatti could gain 17 lbs overnight after the weigh in and Cotto too. it's real easy to do.

Beautiful right hand the rocky..............AGUANTE VALDEZ BIG BIG HEART

it is easy to establish that my friend, the boxers are all bone and muscle,no fat tissue, specially in the middle class, monzon ALWAYS had trouble with the weight,he was always hovering around 165 lbs,all he had to do to gain 10 pund was to eat a lot of protein (red meat)
and water, look at the difference between him and the rest of the rivals how I know? Valdes is my friend and he told me that monzon in the ring just by grabbing him hurted him and that his punch was like light heavy weight punch

How can a fighter gain more than a few pounds in roughly 12 hours? Plus, did anyone weigh him before he left the dressing room? If not, how can you know what he weighed during a fight?
i thought that was monzon's only knockdown, not his second.

compadre: i was present in a couple of his fights; licata and briscoe.
those were the coments in ring side, i abree with u 100% the best pound per pound, it wasn't his fault that he was a natural middleweight ,but he was almost at 175 pounds in almost every fight.

He was a huge middleweight for that era, no doubt about it, but he made the weight the same day of the fight. Therefore in the ring he was much closer to the limit than today middleweights who have more time to gain kg.
