Very limited sold out show on May 22nd 2006, with William Duvall serving as frontman. The audio and video is kinda shitty, but it's a first look at the new Alice in Chains.

  • Jerry did not write most of the lyrics to the AIC catalog. He and Layne shared the load 50/50. In fact, Layne wrote 75 percent of the lyrics off their self-titled album. As for the AC/DC thing, people need to keep in mind that Bon Scott wasn't the original singer; there was another guy named Dave Evans before he came along. Plus AC/DC lyrics aren't exactly deep. They don't even skim the surface of AIC lyrics, especially Layne's.

  • @Rugalef That post of mine you responded to is 2 years old. If you look at my more recent posts, you will see that I've said that I'm past the whole No Layne No Chains things. Granted the name came from Layne's earlier band Alice N' Chains and he contributed a lot more to their catalog than some people give him credit for, but AIC is and always has been mostly Jerry's band as he has written or co-written nearly every song in their catalog.

  • @shanejacobus

75% of the self-titled sure, but that is not their whole catalog, so citing that does not mean much. I don't know where you are getting the 50/50 thing either. Inez and Kinney I believe had some input too. Making it all about Layne, or all about Jerry, or even both of them, is very short sighted. When you're in a band, every member has to contribute, because not everyone in the band knows how to play each instrument. Also, music and lyrics are different.

  • NEGRO DE MIERDA ANDA CANTA TU REGAE NUNCA IGULARAS AL VERDADERO VOCALISTA

  • I am definitely past the whole No Layne No Chains thing. Black Gives Way to Blue is my favorite album from the last decade. I wouldn't say it's the best AIC album ever but it is very much worthy of the brand.

  • @shanejacobus Ever heard of citation?

  • The magic died with Layne? Cantrell is and was always Alice in Chains, not to take anything away from Layne but it is obvious who the sound that made them great came from.

  • No its not a joke. This AIC, not an AIC tribute band. You have to judge William on his own merits. Look at ACDC. Does Brian sound anything like Bon Scott? NO. But he still a great singer and ACDC is still a great band. There was only one Layne and he's dead. Get over it and move on and while yourre at it let Jerry, Sean, and Mike move on, too. You want a Layne clone? Go start your own "tribute" band. Ya probably never even been in band much less know what its like to have a bandmate die.

  • HORRIBLE idea. I agree that if they spent more time, they could have found someone with even better voice for what would be expected for AiC, but honestly, the new record KILLS and Duvall brings a really cool, unique aura to the table. He's doing it the right way; a virtual unknown winning us over one at a time. Noble as hell, and that deserves all the respect in the world.

I love female vocalists, but not in hard rock and metal--its just that the songwriting is not grimy enough for my taste.

  • Dude, this guy gets closer to anything. Sorry man, but a girl cant pull off singing some of the heavier songs, it wouldnt even sound good.
