Having three grand kids has inspired me to build a buddy seat for my JD B tractor. This seat is sometimes called a demonstration seat. Dealers would take a farmer ( who had never been on a tractor) into the field an demonstrate the machines usefullness. This seat is built out of common material and is easy to construct.

  • what's the serial number on this tractor

  • @Boomer617 285770

  • you did a fantastic job. some of my fondest memories are riding with my father on his john deere G. i would stand on the axle and hold onto the fender as it shook with the tractor's movement. you (and my father) werent kidding about safety either. i remember being a little scared i might fall off, but it only made me hold on tighter and trust my father more. i wouldnt trade those memories for anything. i bet my and man and i both wished we had a seat like this. great craftsmanship by the way.

  • Thanks--glad you like it.

  • I'm the neat one!!

  • You have lucky grand kids. I used to have to stand on the draw bar holding on the seat on my grand father's Farmall H's. It was fine most of the time, except when crossing the creek that runs through the property.

  • I recall many a tractor ride with my Grandpa on the now mine, 41 B and I commend you for making something so simple and practical. I sat in my Grandpa's lap for years. I'm sure it was uncomfortable for him, but I will never forget those memories! I have sunk thousands of dollars into the old B getting it completely rebuilt, only for the sake of one day maybe giving my grandkids a ride on it! I better hurry up and have some kids of my own, but really, nice modifications!

  • Great video Pete.

  • I need a buddy seat now!

  • Cool - What fun!
