This is a Show Video of my Otari MX-5050 BII playing an Ampex 641 reel to reel tape. I had to crank down the Bias something fierce because those heads just breathe fire on tapes like that.
Anyway, Credit goes to ZZ Top from the Album ""Eliminator" from 1983" Hope you enjoy all of its Analog Glory.
Oh yes, How I recorded it (audio wise) was I had the external mic on the camera so you can hear the solenoid noise from the deck while I had the XLR outs running to my computer at 48KHz @ 16-bit. I multitracked the camera mic at the beginning and then once the music is playing, the camera mic is off.
So just in case you were curious how you could hear the deck and the music, that was how.
