KENYAN BONIFACE MWANGI WINS MOHAMED AMIN PHOTOGRAPHIC AWARD AT CNN MULTICHOICE AFRICAN JOURNALIST AWARDS 2008

Boniface Mwangi, from Kenya, has been awarded the Mohamed Amin Photographic Award, presented by Camerapix, at this year's CNN MultiChoice African Journalist 2008 Awards ceremony.

Boniface, who works for The Standard Newspaper, Nairobi, Kenya, won for his set of photographs, 'Under Siege', which were chosen from among 1912 entries from a record 44 nations across the African continent.

Boniface was presented with the Award by Salim Amin, CEO Camerapix, at the Awards ceremony held on Saturday evening, 19th July, at The State Banquet Hall, Osu, Accra, Ghana.

Member of the judging panel, Joel Kibazo, Journalist and Media Consultant said: "A wonderful set of photographs which captured a terrible moment when the police in Nairobi used disproportionate force. Some would say it showed the difference between a police force and a police service".
