**War on drugs helping spread HIV: criminalisation of illicit drug use**:
"As illustrated by the Vienna Declaration launched at the recent International AIDS Conference, powerful voices are arguing that prohibition is undermining efforts to slow the spread of HIV among and from injecting drug users.
The declaration articulates the argument that the criminalisation of illicit drug users is fuelling the HIV epidemic and has resulted in overwhelmingly negative health and social consequences. A full policy reorientation is needed."

Analysis
An alternative to the war on drugs.
Stephen Rolles, senior policy analyst.

Stephen Rolles argues that we need to end the criminalisation of drugs and instead set up regulatory models that will control drug markets and reduce the health and social harms caused by current policy.

**Risky Activities and Breaking the Law**:
All people who believe that a person should have the liberty to decide what they do with their own body should find the current laws against recreational drugs abhorrent. It is time we took a rational approach to drug use. Take the supply of drugs out of the hands of criminals and regulate it as we do the other legal recreational drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Educate the population on drug harms, but then let adults make their own mistakes as we do in every other area of life.

  • @thefairlysimple1 Fairly Simple in name and nature? Thanks for the antidrug rant. It's be nice if it was even 1% relevant to this video. If you watch the video, you'll notice it's about War on Drugs failure which continues despite demonstrable evidence it has failed, prices fall, use increases, custodial sentences are targeting vulnerable citizens. indeed it's in text scrolling across the bottom. As you say, drugs are dangerous. Why persist in failed policy that corrupts and kills without drugs?

  • recreational drugs, thats a bit of an oxymoron, makes it sound like its a fun thing to do when your hangin with your homies, lol drugs are dangerous substances, there aint nothing recreational about them at all. stop sugar coating
