Anyway, running without an exhaust is bad for both a 2 stroke and 4 stroke.

@2610ksj On a two-stroke you loose power, on a four-stroke there will maybe be some problems with the exhaust valve in some cases because it may be constructed to have some resistance from the exhaust and some little power losses, but no big problem there.

In any case there is no problem running it a few rounds without exhaust.

@2610ksj No of course not if it is only for a short period, I've done that myself (also on a 2 stroke, the exhaust fell off once !! So I had to drive home without one. That was a pretty noise experience.

But as you say, it is not good for the exhaust valve as there has to be some resistance from an exhaust pipe.

@estes97thegr8 Well I did not try it out, but I think youre mixing up two-stroke and four-stroke here. In two-stroke engines the exhaust does matter. In four-stroke-engines the difference will be somewhat around a few percent. Considering a motor of 3,5hp, this is literally nothing.
