Texas Thunder opened the Saturday evening show at the Midwest Horse Fair on April 19th, 2008. As they were making their final run around the arena the middle left horse got his front hoof caught over the wooden bar that hangs in front of him. The middle team both went down, but thanks to the quick action of their handlers none of them were harmed. After they were unhitched and got back in order they were rehitched in record time and driven out of the arena.

  • Accidents happen, and it appears these guys/handlers did an excellent job showing off their horses and did an excellent job containing the situation. You can see the horses are well cared for an well trained - there is no abuse. Also there is nothing wrong with showing a 6 horse hitch at a canter...accidents can happen at the walk and trot too. I think the handlers and horses should be praised for their excellent team work despite the misstep.

  • Speaks volumes about how well trained they are that they halted and stood so well

  • what happened?

  • I was here when this happened. It was horrible.

  • OMGOMGOMG I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kind of funny. They do this all the time, but it's the one time they mess up that winds up everywhere.

  • they were fine the one that did it was new to the team it was his first show and he made a mistake the horse didnt know anybetter relax they were fine. i was there and he is still performing and they havent had any more accidents like this

  • Hey, I was there. It was really scary to see, but the owners knew what to do. The horse was fine afterwards. He got up and walked away. I've seen them do it successfully before, and they were beautiful. Sometimes accidents happen, but thankfuly the crew was out there quick and nobody got hurt. Had they not know how to calm the animals down like they did, it could have been bad, but the horses were fine!

  • I know the Prieferts, and they are extremely careful with their horses. I'm sure it was just a slip up on the part of the team.
