Flynn's Arcade- ComiCon 2009 - Tron: Legacy

If you were not at San Diego ComiCon this past weekend, you missed out on the best PR campaign I've seen in awhile. Disney, in honor of their new movie "Tron: The Legacy" (to be released Summer 2010) recreated Flynn's Arcade with real, 1980s standup arcade games like Miss Pack Man, Galaga, AstroBlasters, Donkey Kong and many others. They had one Tron machine in the entire room and were featuring a game called Space Paranoid. If you are a Tron fan and this sounds familiar, good! Space Paranoid was the game from the original Tron movie that was never actually released as a game playable by the general public. The game was specifically designed for this weekend.
After about ten minutes of roaming the arcade, looking at the custom neon lights and playing classic arcade games, the music changed. Journey's "Separate Ways" came on loud and strong and the lights danced. Part-way through the song, there was a simulated electrical surge and we were treated to the first track from the yet-to-be-released soundtrack. And what band was put in charge of the score for a movie this big and fantastic? John Williams? Danny Elfman? No! Daft Punk will be writing and performing the entire soundtrack!
The Tron machine opened up and we stepped through a door to find concept art for the movie and a life-size light cycle. Gorgeous!

It's funny this video was uploaded 1.5 years before Tron Legacy, and they already are playing Daft Punk's songs from the movie.

Lol the track "separate ways" is actually still playing, the same scene where sam flynn was walking down the stair towards the basement of the Flynn building. haha. so is the derezzed daft punk soundtrack! so cool!
