don't take your guitar to a small shop to get pickups installed.

  • did you try shielding the pickup cavities and the control cavities? using better insulated cables helps too.

  • it also helps when they wire the pickups right :)

i got them fixed. they're awesome now.

  • dimarzio d sonic and PAF pro. i got it fixed recently and they are beast. i had to roll my gain and tubescreamer way down because my old pickups were so weak that i had to drown them in distortion in order to get a decent sound :)

  • Thumbs up for John Petrucci riffs.

  • i think that over 1/2 of your problem is that your playing through a Peavy.... LOL

  • i thought they sounded unique and cool, if you listen to mayonaise by the smashing pumpkins hes playing a 60 dollar guitar and it makes the song awesome

  • dude i feel your pain getting ripped off, but to say dont take your guitar to small shops is just stupid. more like dont take your guitar to THAT shop. musicians should support mom and pop businesses when ever they can , guitar center is like the wal-mart of music stores. anyway man theres this really nice book you might wanna get- totally guitar- its cheap and among other things it tells you how to wire your own up. like 15 dif configs. i have it and love it.

  • i've actually had more success with smaller shops because they could actually take the time with my guitar instead of being diluted amongst others

  • Size of the shop doesn't matter. It's the skill of the guy working on your guitar. Ask around next time.
