  • i have to take a Welding stick test an they are requiring me to weld a Vertical Up 78, Flat 70 - 24, Vertical Downhill 60 - 11. what exactly does that mean???

  • @fuker69420

    O... Kay...

It means they want you to weld from the bottom of a joint to the top of it with 7018, Straight across a joint sitting right-side-up on the table with 7024, and start at the top of a joint and weld down with 6011.

If you were unsure about any of this, you might wanna buy a few pounds of rods and try it out at home before taking the test. Remember, 7018 never works vertical down. Ever. 7024 also never works on anything not flat and horizontal. Ever.

    Good Luck :)

  • @ChuckE2009 You mentioned holes in your welds when pushing with any flux covered electrodes, I'm just curious because wouldn't a uphill vertical T qualify as a push? and I ran them with 7018 without issues.

  • @sLoWwBurn24

    Good Question!!

Thats because gravity pulls the slag to the back of the puddle, which is the same thing the force of the arc does, when you're welding flat...

  • you sounded like the guy in the videos at school at the begining

  • @SupremeThunda23

Lol, Im taking that as a compliment :)

  • o and sorry i meant to say stick welding lol

  • i have been working at a shipyard and i am having a hard time learning how to arc weld. all we use are 1/8 7018s. ive gotta learn or im gonna lose my job i just dont understand the tactic ive got the fundamentals but i either gouge into my metal real bad or i dont tie in to both sides and the weld is weak. will you make a video showing how to run a bead on a 90 degree and explain what is going on while your running your bead and what to do exactly please? and put a lense on ur cam so i can see

  • You lost me at ''POPCORN''... Good vid bro

  • @mrkennethporter ahahahahhahah, I do the same thing! I mean about heating rods on radiator! I'm from Serbia.

    Greetz!

  • great expalination. I have never been formally trained in welding, I just sort of picked it up from my dad when he was repairing equipment so I learned alot of information.

  • Great job, explained it very well!

  • what is a c channel weld if i may ask?

  • Sorry dude I managed a couple of minutes then the wind noise made me switch off.

  • Hi enjoyed that vid.

I have Fincord 6013, fasttex 7024 and spezial 7016 at my disposal for stuctral work. I dont have a rod oven and live in a damp country, Ireland. Before I go out at night to weld, I find good results byt simply storing the rods to be used on top of the home heating radiator. They turn a lighter colour and are easy to start with. you mention that this my dry them to much as it is not an oven. Have you any advise on Mobil small heating devices for rod heating?

  • really good video helps alot but that fukin wind bro drives me mad
