@rpgrocker01 I haven't met a single person who said disc 2 was the best part of the game. Xenogears' strength was letting you LIVE the story as it happened, being in the shoes of the characters when plot events happened. The soul of the game is the narrative, and the best way to express it is to let the player experience it. The second disk just spoonfeeds you everything in a montage. I wish they'd remake this and give the second disk a better chance.

For me, the best RPG of al time. Its hard to choose one best game and, of course the choice comes biased with psychological impressions that made difference for me. I really love Grandia, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Skies of Arcadia and FFXII (yes, althoug the characters arent charismatic the world and the game was incredibly fun - and the music is excellent) but, the rpg that make me feel and think more than all the others was Xenogears.

xenogears , xenosaga and xenoblade ,those 3 xeno games are all incomplete game...

with xenosaga being the worst of it

Finally beat Xenogears. Such an amazing, fantastic, crazy game. While I didn't hate disc 2, I will agree that it wasn't as good as disc one, but it did end on a high note and the final boss was really cool and the ending was really good too. I'm almost sad that I'll never get to experience this game for the first time again =(

@SilentForceX I remember that the battles didn't bother me as much when I first played the game in the 90s. Guess I've gotten more impatient since then...

@S1rWakka Eh, I don't really hold the random encounters against it (except for the jumping bug. Babel tower anyone?) since it's a pretty standard RPG. Heck, it helped lower the time needed to grind deathblows.

@SilentForceX I have mixed feelings. In Disc 1 the MANY and tedious random battles felt as a disruption and I just wanted them to get on with the story. Disc 2 made up for that, but too much. Here there was no time to process the new information and the lack of visuals made it even more difficult to store it in my memory. It's like a college professor who keeps talking for 2 hours without allowing breaks or interruption.

@Cosuin It wasn't misplanning of the budget. Xenogears was in development at around the same time Final Fantasy VIII was, and considering FF's established brand name vs a brand new one...they just siphoned all the cash from Xenogears and gave it to FFVIII.
