@S7R31F he was close to the cushion, which meant he would be putting top spin on the ball, if he went for the cannon red to white, it would mean a really thin contact, and the cue ball would be above the white ball, making it hard to play a cannon, by playing it this way, both object balls would be above the cue ball, giving him more choices to either play a cannon or an in-off etc.
didn't realise that even the pro players lose position at the top fairly often and need to play another drop cannon to get to the top. I was always under the impression that once at the top they seldom go in hand (due to better positioning of the opponents ball behind the spot)
Dhruv has improved a hell of a lot I remember beating him in 1998 in India at the world championships. Nice break
