  • Hard to believe it is hard to find fans of a movie like this. Well acted, beautifully composed music. Even though the film is dated, it is still very effective in it's mood and message. Very convincing portrayal of a lonely tomented man by Heston.

  • Awesome soundtrack for a great movie!!

  • Saw this when I was a kid and thought it was all soooo cool--Like Mathias says "Nothing to live for but his cars, his guns, his gimmicks and gadgets"...Yeah. Watch the first 20 minutes of "last man on earth" with Vincent Price--That looks an awful lot more depressing.

  • God, I saw this as a kid and so wanted to be Charlton Heston!

  • The oldest are ALWAYS the BEST

  • It has artistic elements -- music, photography, story, acting,. etc -- that no other "Last Man On Earth" movie has. For me it's the best of them all. Beautiful in its profound sadness. Good dialogue too. (Matthias: "Definition of a scientist: a man who understood nothing, until there was nothing left to understand.") Even now I occasionally think about it, and hum Grainer's melody to myself. My love to all who respect this film. We are brothers and sisters in spirit.

  • @calibreeze007 I was once told by a psycho-babbler that "I had internalized " the Omega Man, and the Iliad too. And Thoreau. And Hipparchos. And Archimedes, Newton, Galilieo, Sophocles, da Vinci, .........Walk away, and let the Monkeys rot.

  • A classic movie, a classic score. An Australian composer, mainly domiciled in Britain where the majority of his work was in TV, creates an awesome score for a US movie. You couldn't make it up, could you?

  • My parents told me they took me to this movie when I was 4, which was unusual, given the time when no one saw a rated R movie at that age - maybe they just thought I would run around and not pay attention, but apparently I hid behind the seats in fear (my parents were not neglectful for the record)..........but how I grew to love the movie.

  • I saw this when I was a kid. Couldn't help but love everything bit of it, even if it was scary at the time.

  • Brilliant film. Very atmospheric and rather sad.

  • i have this film on vhs dvd and blu ray, watch it on a 100 inch screen to spot the cars and people walking about, love the film, just wish there had been just a little bit more killing of the bad guys, just a little.
