Now, there's a car that Jessica Simpson needs to drive!

In Britain this would work out at 35 imperial mpg on the open road, good when you consider the British equivalent of the time, a Ford Granada 2.8 with automatic transmission, would only do 28 imperial mpg if driven carefully. However, we did have the compensations that our maximum speed limit was 70 mph and our emissions controls weren't very stringent, meaning the Granada was faster than a Chrysler New Yorker, although the main downsides being our petrol cost twice as much.

Weren't they just K-Cars with a few extra luxury goodies?

@ramonedesk Congratulations! These New Yorkers are very nice, yet underrated.
For your New Yorker to last, you must take very good care of it! Remember to RELIGIOUSLY maintain your car and keep it garaged/under a carport. Drive your New Yorker gently and carefully, it is of lightweight construction to save weight and fuel. I also recommend looking up the ALLPAR site. It's a fun and useful resource for Chrysler owners.

@jakesaintsrow123 My '83 New Yorker had Mitusbishi's 2.6l. It was parchment white with saddle/chocolate two tone Mark Cross leather. Very nice looking but temperamental without high maintenance.
I loved the color/interior of my '83 but, the '86 with Chrysler's bullet proof EFI 2.5 was the best of them.
With normal maintenance, I drove my '86 New Yorker until it began to fall apart at 350,000 miles.
Even then, the EFI 2.5 engine was strong and still got 27-30 hwy MPG!
