This actually turned out not to be too hard to play once I used the capo. It's not the *best* cover (Boyce Street does an awesome one), but I had fun doing it. I hope you enjoy it; if you don't, that's okay, there are probably things more to your liking elsewhere. :)

For those wondering, in the segue just before "It was a wicked and wild wind", I use my pinkie to bounce around on the B string, at the 3rd fret (from the capo'd position), basically adding the relative D (or absolute Eb) for flavor in the C and G chords, and I bounce my middle finger on the G string to add the decorative A (absolute Bb).

--------
chords (capo1)
generally: C D G Em
intro: C/G D/F# G6 Em
chorus: Cadd9 Dsus G Em7
bridge: C Em C Em

[intro]

I used to rule the world
The seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the mornin' I sweep alone
I sweep the streets I used to own

[intro]

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemies' eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

[chorus]
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin'
Roman cavalry choirs are singin'
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never
Never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world

[chords]

It was a wicked and wild wind
Blew down the door to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever wanna be king?

[chorus]
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin'
Roman cavalry choirs are singin'
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

[bridge]

[chords]

[chorus]
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin'
Roman cavalry choirs are singin'
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

[chords]
Oooooh oooooh oooooh
Oooooh oooooh oooooh

  • Great voice, Thank you sir!

  • Not too shabby at all! You are the only cover who impressed me after I watched Bradintampa, who does a great cover also.

I especially liked your recording technique. Have you got some original songs I can hear?

THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD SOUNDS!!

  • It's D major, not D minor.

  • @gugabool1 Thanks! It's always nice to be a pleasant surprise! :)
