Played by Pierre Gazin, & recorded in 1984. This piece is probably Dupré's greatest crowd-pleaser. The instrument is a III/64/89, eveolved from an organ originally installed, believe it or not, in 1686.

  • I think now there are en chamades in this organ too.

  • You are very sensible. This tempo is very satisfying. It's a difficult piece.

  • this is the B minor prelude and fuge, it´s the g minor:P

  • See my previous comment. I grew up going to a brick Methodist church -- but it had just a 3-manual Moller ;-). And I agree with you. There's a lot of the French repertoire (Tournemire springs to mind)that just doesn't sound right anywhere except on a French instrument in a big stone French church.

  • the fugue is a little bit to slow I think. Watch Raul Prieto!

  • Once upon a time, I would have agreed with you. But many years ago, after sitting in St. Sulpice & listening to Francoise Renet performing something (I can't remember the piece), I came to the realization that you can't listen to these French organs the same way you listen to most other instruments. They're like a meal at a good French restaurant: you can't rush. You must sit back & slowly savor each morsel ;-)
