I like this video. It appears to be a reasonable method providing the bearing is not too stuck on. I think arranging a couple of short chunks of soft wood in the vise first rather than cutting down the vise would be better and easier. An alternative method perhaps, would be to strap down the spindle and gummings, hook something flat and smooth behind the bearing, the something is attached to a chain, the chain is also attached to an open vise, and then simply wind the vise closed, ah - em easy.

How is someone without the proper equipment supposed to put the new bearing on....with a hammer I suppose.
Seems to me that you would run a very high risk of damaging the armature. Not to worry ... the armature is usually the most expensive part of any tool.

what did you use to cut the pieces off of the vise ?

@therockkkkher We used a general use cut-off wheel to cut the vise down.
