  • @coupe662 I agree with you coupe. I never listen to this as I can't stand him and how he taliks to Gene here.

  • Elvis first recorded in 1953 - then in July of 1954 - he did That's All Right Mama - And Blue moon of Ky. - Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash came in 1955 - Gene came along in 1955 - but didn't start being known until 1956- Billy Haley and The Comets - Were the first BIG known Nation act - with Number one hits. Elvis didn't get USA number til 1956 with Heartbreak Hotel but in the south he was huge for years before that.- They ALL got it going- Regadless. The FIRST King of RnR was Billy Haley tho

  • @coupe662 the interviewer really is a tool, isn't he? a shame to have gene vincent in the studio and not want to listen to him...

  • "You're no judge of music. You don't read it. You don't talk it or you don't live it. I do" - Gene Vincent . GO GENE!!! The interviewer is a D-bag.

  • the interviewer is such twat!! i love it at 1:54 when he says soul is black and Gene says well you have a soul and your not black!

  • @georsand Just for the record. Vincent was one of the first to pick on the new sound. Capitol released his first single in APRIL 1956! Right after Elvis came out on TV in January 56´. Vincent was Capitols answer to RCA´s Elvis Presley, Burnette was with CORAL. By then Orbison was still crawling around Memphis, recording at SUN, trying to get with the new beat. He flopped, because he was a balladeer from the start, no rocker. Little Richard is a boogie man, aint no rockabilly.

Gene Vincent died from a perforated ulcer, aged 36.

    It's been 39 years since his death... I'm 20, but I haven't forgotten you...

    R.I.P. Gene...

  • Blimey! Gene would have had an easier interview with Jeremy Paxman. "Question Time" has nothing on this. Well played Gene Vincent.
