Tensile testing a stainless steel test specimen to failure using a computerized tensile test machine. An extensometer is used to measure yield strength at different loads; these measurements are used to compute strain.

  • We did this in Physics but on a MUCH smaller scale. The tensiles we were testing were 1/8th inch rods. Steel broke at around 700LB
