i lived on beach blvd. katrina took everything ive ever had.

i used to live in the timber ridge apartments. when i came back to see the damage of my apt...they had already torn all the walls down and threw all we had left away on the top floor. the only thing worse than the storm was the way people acted after it.

Over 4 years later i sob looking at this. My mom lives off 2nd Street. And yes I knew people that died also. Katrina will be the saddest point of my lifetime.

Also! My best friend from school's dad was a policeman that died to save the other policemen when they were trapped. I gotten a hold of him the year before last and he'd decided to give up football and follow in his father's steps and became a police officer.

It's even worse when I'm a few points below Aspergers [functional autism] so in a way I don't think it was ME that went through that hell... but it was someone else. Sometimes I have to stop and think to myself ' Wait... that was me in that' and that's when everything.. all the emotions come back like a tidal wave.. and I'm just a small beacon in the mercy of the surge.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't have a flash back from this storm or the week later. It was.. somethings I still feel like throwing up over. Things I can't even tell my own parents what I've seen. I grew up in the south and spent a good chunk of my school life in the Pass Christian schools.

im crying i lived in mississippi 14 years of my life its my home STATE and it made me cry to see all the homes and hotels that were lost in this storm even though GOD SAVED MY HOME AND MY MAMAS PLACE TOOK SOME HARM TO IT BUT GOD PROTECTED HER SHE STAYED AND MADE IT THOUGH THANK YOU GOD I LIVED 14 YEARS IN PASS CHRISTAIN MS NOW I LIVE IN GA.
Thanks for posting such a great video, even though it makes me cry!! I know the area that you were driving through. My (then 11 year old) daughter & I drove from Montana to the Pass last October to spend a week as part of Randy's Rangers rebuilding after Katrina. We both fell in love with the Pass & can't wait to return! We are waiting (impatiently) this week for news from our new MS friends on how they faired during Gustav. I thank God that Gustav was not another Katrina in the Pass.

Thank you so much.. This time we got 4 feet of water below our elevated house.. Lost a lot of power tools and such in the downstairs room, no water got in the house. I think I remember seeing the rangers, and we thank you. Hwy 90 was flooded with pounding waves, but we are grateful it was no Katrina. We still have about 2/3s of the original population but we are slowly coming back. the downtown area looks much better though not like it was.
Bless you
Paul

Where were you located? We lived on North St and were at the Lizzana Elm shelter. It is still rough seeing the images, I still have nightmares and I probably always will.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this video. I responded from Georgia with a law enforcement team shortly after Katrina hit. I worked in Mississippi my entire deployment, beginning in Pass Christian searching for bodies, and assisting survivors. I have driven, slept, eaten, and walked in the areas of this film. It is sad how Mississippi's damage was never brought to light in the media. My heart is still with you guys. Thanks again. You guys taught me a lot.
