The Mazada Tribute dealer wanted $ 69 to change this filter. I bought it for $ 16 and did it myself, thanks to your great, and simple, directions. Where can I send you a few dollars to say thanks?
No wonder I sneeze whenever I'm in my Tribute! I was beginning to think I was allergic to the car! That, and if I've used the defroster that week, the window gets filthy! Imagine what you're inhaling! They should have included one with the car. The fact that they don't, speaks volumes as to what they think about their customers. Thanks for posting, and also I'm going to clean the compartment out with some gentle detergent.
No filter in my 06 tribute 6 cyl either. When I had the dealer change my oil last year one of the items found on their courtesy inspection was a "dirty cabin filter". Yea, right! I declined to have it changed at the time.
My cobalt has it underneath the glove box too. Has nothing to do with a lexus being better I get tired of that. It depends on the make and model of the car.
Cabin air filters are optional. You don't have to have one, but they do help clean the air inside of your car. The Ford Escape does not come equiped with a filter from the factory, but there is a place to put one if you like. When you bought the car new you would have had to ask for one to be installed, otherwise it would be missing like in this video.
My uncle bought an '03 LeSabre new and it had no cabin filter element installed. How would you clean the air system out before putting in a new element? I ask this because I would assume that dirt and dust and other particles would be in there causing problems for the passengers and the interior surfaces since there was no element for so long.
Thanks for the video. My wife has an 02 Escape. I opened it up today what a suprise no cabin filter in this one either. Nothing but a big mice nest. This issue seems to be common. Have you seen other escapes with no cabin filter?
Thank you verymuch, I couldn't even find the cab filter. I've owned GMC all my life and the cabin filters are accesible right inside the cab held in with quick clips. Thanks for the info much appreciated, the step by step instruction is excellent. Our 06 Escape had no cabin filter either?? Weird...
I can't say i'm shocked that they left it out. What about the, I wanna say Honda something, The ones you have to actually cut the plastic that goes across the bottom of the glove box off. (It's been a while!)
@FIcaraudioBTL I've had two escape V6's, an 02 and currently an 08. I'm sure it has it, but ford didn't put them in from the factory. It's odd, I'll be installing one.
wow that's an odd place to put it, or maybe I'm just used to the relative simplicity of Lexus cars. They have em right behind the glove box or inside the glove box., very quick and easy to replace. I think if I didn't read the manual or look at this video, I would have never known that this car has a cabin filter.

My 2003 Escape did not have one either. Seems to be a common issue. Has to be a reason why.

Does this apply to the V6? I'm pretty sure that the V6 doesn't have it.
