The Mighty Offbeats final gig at Mevagissey feast week 2010

Lee lets off some steam regarding "politics, bad policing and bad pubs"

The local police have taken a vendetta against Lee and his band. This relates to a recent gig in a harbour pub where a police officer singled him out and asked him not to drink outside the pub.

As Lee was the first person to be asked, he replied with "what do the locals call you, pigs or filth?" which is a British terminology for "the police" or "police officer", "cop" etc.

Unfortunately the officer took extreme offence to this comment and suggested they discus it further ... out on the quay.

Lee being in the middle of a set could not take him up on his offer and refused!

Roll on a month or two later, and during the start of the Mevagissey Feast Week event, Lee dedicated the song "Monkey Man" by "The Specials" to the police officer.

Soon after this gig it was reported that the local officer had stated "Matters are in hand, and this band will never play again".

During the last two weeks the police have been making visits to the published list of venues, which they have obtained from the internet, where Lee and his band are due to perform.

The police are insisting the band is not to perform and are threatening to remove the venues entertainment licence if they do so.

It has been reported that police sergeants have visited venues and used the excuse that the band are racist and members of the BMP............ both are completely unsubstantiated and strongly untrue!

To date 4 venues have been cancelled by the police so far.

The Mighty Offbeats frequently perform for numerous charity events raising money with their performances, these have included; Foster Carers Association, Golf War Veterans and many others.

There is a meeting with the police next week to hopefully resolve this.
