  • The playing surface is ruined -but that's due to age (prior to 1900) and composition (brown wax, less durable than black wax or blue amberol).

  • i managed to find another recording of this song on youtube if you're interested its under brooklyn cakewalk

  • @amberola1b He's not the only one. I am also interested in the old stuff like wax cylinders and old recordings.

  • I think the announcer is Edward Meeker. He was in charge of sound effects at Edison and he did selections like these, as well as announcing most Edison cylinders. Also, Meeker had a higher voice than Collins. Noting the early date of this recording, and the similarities between Meeker and Arthur Collins' voices, who knows?

  • That's awesome to hear, and it's a beautiful phonograph. That has to be Arthur Collins at the beginning. The "Ha-hah!" gives it away. I've only heard Collins do that.

  • its amazing to see how music gets played like this! I have old phonograph machine as well, and it´s just THE way to play music, soooo wonderful!

  • sweet

  • A great and lively played version. I've always liked the Peerless Orchestra performances.

I agree with the other post that it does sound very much like Arthur Collins. Great and early number, thank you for posting this!
