@hobbitinallbutsize apparently louisa based jo on herself. louisa was a spinster, never married - and she intended for jo to remain that way. but apparently the publisher demanded jo be matched up with someone so louisa went and made a "funny match" for jo with the professor. there is also some speculation that louisa, and therefore jo, was supposed to be lesbian.
*sigh* poor Laurie.

dang it! how can they NOT end up together? the story would have been perfect! :((

To me, not having these two together is like not putting Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy together.

tehe... yes, yes, the not-to-be couples one always remembers best. who didn't shed a tear when first seeing her refuse him (the awkwardly handsome Christian Bale who used to be such a charming boy and now always seems to me like a wild brute ;) ?
I mean you expect that to happen in a Hardy novel where no one ever ends up happily married, or the people just die for the hell of it. But had it to happen in such a lovely story?
<3<3<3But that way we'll remember them always <3<3<3

If i were Jo, i would definitely say yes! I know anybody here would say the same, but why Jo had to say no? Laurie was so lovely! T_T

Aww he was a heck of a lot better than Fredrick.

I love this book, and in fact I like Jo and Friedrich, but I was really upset when I read the part in which Jo says no to Teddy. They were perfect for each other! :( I still can't believe they don't end up together!

Love this.... it's how it really should have ended! :)

I have read the books, I do understand when people say there were reasons behind the other romances, nevertheless I simply would have loved for Louise May Alcott to have these two end together, IMO they were perfect for each other. Yes there would have been a lot of bickering but it would have been sweet. I dont like the way it ended and I simply love this video:O)

I loved their friendship and relationship. I know that if you are friends for a long time it is hard to become lovers...although...they couldn't possibly continue their close friendship...ever (after they marreid other people) it wouldn't be appropriate :( I hate it when they didn't end up together...and that Laurie end up with AMY of all people...
Jo & Laurie forever <3
I LOVE Loisa May Alcott (the author of Little Women) but I think she really messed up not marrying them!!!!!!! I REALLY love this Video!

I love the song with this pairing, I just wish that Jo had realized she and Laurie were really perfect for each other.
