  • yes once it is setup and you have the nutrients balanced its as fast as hydroponics because there is always a fresh supply of nitrogen for the plants.

  • I have it plugged in right now but will be switching it to a solar panel in spring. the fan, air pump, water pump and irrigation system only draw under 100w so it will be "off-grid" and a full self contained ecosystem. :) I will post more updates as I continue on it.

  • Atheist4USA - Everyone's taste in music varies and that's why there is choice and variety on the radio. we find living in the country and on a hobby farm that we can relate to county music.

  • We have Tilapia in ours. We also have a small indoor one that we have setup as a herb garden and we use feeder fish for that one. the indoor one works awesome for basil, oregano thyme and ones like that.

  • I am a carpenter, and I have to say I love the workmanship - I am curious, though - the beds on the perimeter of your dome - are those just dirt beds? Your grow bed seems a bit small for 1600 liters, but that would depend upon the number of fish.

  • @tmcnabb104 - yes they are dirt beds that I had hooked up to a sprinkler system to feed water from the fish tank.

  • Is the growth rate in the aquaponics bed noticeably faster than the dirt beds?
