All round the stranger the forest life teems
He climbs up the track to the height
Woodside and moorland marshes and streams
Glow in the evening light
Badger and vixen viper and hind
Sense him and give him wide berth
This lonely creature from rank humankind
Whose species is spoiling the earth
Far distant lies the smog hung town
Big road rumbles there -
Jet trails score the heavenly sky
Tall flue smears the air
High on the hilltop he pauses and sees
Dark peaceful vale, evening stars
Stands in the gloaming feels the night breeze
Bringing the noise of the cars
Above the wild landscape a cloud red with rage
Fills him with fear of some end:
Is nature awaiting ther post human age?
