A demonstration has taken place in London today outside the Saudi Arabian embassy, against the demolition of archeological sites that have special significance in Islamic history -- such as the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the resting places of his family and companions.

  • Saudi Arabia is NOT perfect, but there is a lot of good Islaam there.

Their Islaamic scholars promote pure Tawheed (monotheism) - the worship of Allaah, alone, without the association of any partners with Him.

It is a land where people are NOT permitted to worship the dead at graves - because Islaam FORBIDS worshipping anyone or anything besides Allaah.

Saudi Arabia contributes considerable wealth to the cause of Islaam, including the printing and donation of huge amounts of Qur'aans.

  • Muslims love the Prophet's family and love means to follow their great examples. Muslims thus worship Allaah, alone (including supplication/ DUA/ invocation/ prayer) to Allaah, alone.

Sufis and Shias exaggerate the status of the Prophet's family and other pious people and worship them by supplicating to them, seeking their help and intercession - THAT IS SHIRK (polytheism/ associating partners with Allaah).

Shirk is the worst sin in Islaam and expels a person from Islaam.

  • Building places of worship over graves is FORBIDDEN in Islaam and is in fact the ways of the Pagans of our time (Sufis, Shias, Catholics and more) and the Pagans of old.

Muslims love the pious slaves of Allaah; they were great humans and are great examples for us to follow.

BUT - We CANNOT build shrines above their graves - No!

IN ISLAAM - Mosques are for the worship of our Creator only and NOT for the worship (including excessive veneration) of humans or any other created being.

  • The Prophet of Allaah has indeed said: “Allaah cursed the Jews and the Christians for taking the graves of their prophets as Masjids (mosques).” -- Refer to the English Translation of Saheeh Bukhari, Book of Prayer, volume 1, Book 8, Hadeeth no: 427 & 428.

  • From Jaabir bin Abdullaah who said that the Messenger of Allaah prohibited plastering of the graves and sitting upon it and building upon it.

This narration is in Kitaab ul-Janaaiz 2/667 in Muslim
