Barbra Streisand auditioned for Liesl in the Broadway production.

I disagree with the statements about her lack of a singing voice. She would have been an adorable Liesle and she had a lovely and affecting singing style. For the "real" singing of the movie, Julie Andrews would have been enough and Mia's adorable personality would have added immeasurably to the film's charm.

Great actress but not a great singer.

EEEWWW! YUCK! Good thing Charmian came along.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ITS EYES?!

Ouch! My ears! From the sound of that horrific voice, I would've thought it was her audition for Rosemary's Baby!

She played Grandmary in the Samantha movie. I didn't know she could sing

I think what's missing is a personality inside of the voice. Technically she's singing in tune but she's not believable as the person in the song. Good singing, especially musical theater isn't just singing, there's acting involved as well. It's what someone like Barbra Streisand always brings to her songs.

I am SO glad Charmaine got the part of Liesl, Mia was beautiful and charming but she didn't have the right voice, something was missing from it and perhaps it was a little TOO deep? I mean, Charmaine was a note or two higher then that and it is what made the song perfect.
