Anyway, here is way I used:

Running Under Windows Vista

This is how to install and run Daggerfall under Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. The game runs smoothly and plays well under DOSBOX 0.72

You'll need: * Daggerfall CD * DOSBOX 0.72 (available here) * Daggerfall patch 2.13 (available here)

First, install DOSBOX. As is usual with Vista, make sure you have administrator privileges.

Open DOSBOX. It will probably default to Z:\. Type this: mount c c:\ -freesize 1024

If you intend to install Daggerfall to another directory change it accordingly: mount x x:\ -freesize 1024

You'll need to change your directory letter to where your CD is, but with DOSBOX you'll need to mount it first. If your CD is in drive D: type this: mount d d:\

Change to D: by typing d:

And then: install

Change the installation size to HUGE and setup the soundcard as prompted. If the installer says you do not have enough space, you'll have to try again. This appears to happen randomly. Leave DOSBOX open.

ALT+TAB to your desktop and move the Dag213 patch to the installation directory, this should be C:\DAGGER.

Go back to DOSBOX and install the patch. If you didn't close DOSBOX you should still be under C:\DAGGER. Type: dag213

And the patch will install.

Next, ATL+TAB back to your desktop and then find the z.cfg file under the DAGGER folder.

Open it with Notepad and edit the line: path cd d:\dagger\arena2\

Change it to: path cd c:\dagger\arena2\

This changes the directory where the game looks for the cd. Again,if your install directory was not c:\dagger,change it accordingly

Save and close the file.

Create a new file with Notepad and put type this: @echo off set dos4gvm=@dagger.vmc fall.exe z.cfg

Save it as DAG.BAT and then move it to your installation directory.

Under Vista, copy all of the files on the \ARENA2 from your CD to the \ARENA2 in your install directory.

Finally, you can run the game under DOSBOX by typing: (as long as you're still at C:\DAGGER\) dag.bat

i dont like dosbox man i usually have to just take a break for a few hours cuz my head implodes on itself lol, one day ill do this right tho, thnks for supportin us people who dont know how to work this impossible death trap lol daggerfall 4 eva!

I cant seem to be able to compile these instructions in my head properly...

trying to do this on vista...maybe it's just me, but I can't get dosbox to recognize -any- commands....idk..maybe that's a subject for another entire tutorial...
Well...that is to say I can get drives to mount, but not much at all else.

try using Bethesdas instructions on how to properly install daggerfall into dosbox. Go to my vid and see the official way to do it.

Holy crap I fucking love you! I was having problem creating the directory because no one told me to mount the cd drive AND the hard drive! Thank you so much... I don't know what will happen after later because its installing now but thanks again fro at least getting me past this huge bump in the road.

well it works perfectly... but since its virtual its slow as hell and i have found out the bug it doesnt let me view quests :(
