@psynque Other species do behave in a way to ensure existence, but this is what is called instinct; it is not based on any morality. Humans talk about thing that "ought" to be done or not done, thereby saying there is a standard to whih we all should attain. We seem to be the only species to do this - why? And atheists cannot say anyone "ought" to do or not do anything, as that would imply standards to which we are all accountable. Atheists cannot say that if there is no God.

@uayfb1 Then again who does? In a theistic moral system how do you judge the merits of moral commands coming from Adonai in comparison to ones coming from say Quetzalcoatl? I suppose you use similar reasoning methods human societies have used for thousands of years. We generally prefer health to sickness, pleasure to pain and so forth. In core simple utilitarian principles. Also, other species don't behave in a way to ensure their existence? That's certainly news to me.

@MADMANx511  What I'm saying is that since you have no grounds for morality, you cannot tell anyone else how they should live, because it is only your belief that some things are right or not - it's not based on any standard but your own. As for helping the human race survive, we seem to be the only ones who do this. Why? Other creatures on Earth don't need to; why do we?

@MADMANx511 Then I guess things like justice and human dignity mean nothing to you at all, let alone love; if you are a consistent believer in what you have said they will mean nothing, because they ARE nothing. So is any concept of right or wrong - these cannot exist outside each person's own mind if you are correct. This means you have no right (nor does anyone else) to tell other people how they should live.

@uayfb1 "Satan" was invented by early religious folk to instil fear into the hearts and minds of the masses. These people spread the lie of "if you do not follow our bullshit faith, you will suffer for eternity". Life is just electrical impulses, and when these impulses cease - so does life. Your corpse will rot and turn into Earth and food for parasites and that's it - There is no afterlife because that's just a stupid concept.
