03/04/09 Last week Chase returned to the SPCA where he was adopted 5 years ago. His owner reports that Chase "does not do well with small children less than 5 years old." The family vet noted that Chase appears to have a spinal injury from an old car accident when he lived with a previous owner. When I held Chase today he was good for about 5 minutes and showed no impatience until he got into a stare-down with one of his neighbor cats. After the provocation, Chase gave a little growl and smacked me on the hand for "setting him up." (Remember, he is front de-clawed). Then he turned his back while I made the video that you see here. Fortunately, the grudge only lasted a few seconds, and Chase did not mind being handled again. For the most part, he has always been a friendly couch potato, as long as he gets proper respect from other pets and people in the house. Chase has a bit of discomfort in one front paw and treats it gingerly. Also, he prefers Arm & Hammer cat litter. Turkish vans are known for unwavering loyalty to their owners. They are highly intelligent and often enjoy playing in water.

To adopt this cat, or for availability inquiries, please call the Delaware County SPCA without delay at 610-566-1370,

  • What's the name of this song? Goes well with the video, and made me tear up a little at seeing Chase looking so downhearted. =( Poor kitty.

  • That's Haley Mills as a teenager singing the title track from the movie, The Castaways. Thanks for asking!

  • ohhh I wish I could take him home he was so sad it looked like he couldnt even lift his head

  • That was very perceptive of you. Shortly after this video Chase was moved to the sick room where he stayed for about 2 weeks. He is better now and back in the adoption room. If he takes a turn for the worse, they have instructions to call me so I can take him home for rehab.

  • Poor Chase... I'd hate to have to leave my home.

  • There's no place like home.

  • @Over18MyArse2 I lost track of Chase a long time ago, but I'm fairly certain he found a new home without too much difficulty.

  • Maybe so, but Chase has a reputation for getting annoyed with people who are not as smart as he is.

  • Poor Chase....he looked to be a bit miffed at being sent back .
