Jeremy Clarkson drives a vintage Jaguar e-type along a country road, and then tries an Eagle speedster, a new car which resembles the E-type. Great HD clip from Series 17 of Top Gear. If Jaguar would make a retro E Type similar to the Eagle they would have a huge hit on their hands. Most older cars don't lend themselves well to "modernizing" the shape & most retro cars leave me thinking they should have left well enough alone but I think a retro E-Type,if done well like the Eagle, would be a very desirable car. I sure know I would be in line to get one if they could get the cost down to a reasonable figure with mass production.

The rarity is only one aspect to it. Granted, that is very important to the collectors & drives prices but that is the collectors market. Very true,if it was mass produced the rarity aspect would be gone but it would still be a desirable car. It would be like a new Mercedes instead of a rare collectible exotic. I agree though,it would lose that rarity, you can't have it aspect, but it would still be a very desirable car. I know I would want one even if there were quite a few out there.

But you wouldn't want one if they were mass produced would you? That's the whole point of cars like this...

The E-Type is one of the few things left which remind us what being British was about. If anyone thinks we still have a UK, think again. We're the most CCTV controlled country in the world; every pub, cafe, hospital, leisure centre, college/school, business centre, even public park has CCTV. We have a draconian smoking ban & pubs are deliberately made to close due to high costs. We have no manufacturing industry left & high unemployment. And we have people who can afford a 50k E-Type lol.
