Let´s start saying that this pianist was diagnosed by a orthopedic surgeon and a neurologist as having focal hand dystonia in her right hand and besides they said that they did not know how to solve her problem. In the video we can listen to her talking about her own perceptions of tension in the forearm and tremors that may pass unnoticed for inexperienced eyes. In this case we are seeing a variation of the disorder that shows up under the level of visual perception by most people. The pianist shows a faulty playing with easy pieces of music due to the tension that contracts her hand and the corresponding difficulty to precise the movement, with tremors and generating a strong rigidity also when she had to play chords for which is required control at the fact of opening the hand and sustaining the position, which was extremely difficult for her and she resorted to practice them the least the better, in fact she was so affected that we did not work on the accords until a month after starting the retraining classes. At the end of the retraining sessions we chose as the proof of her recovery the beginning of the sonata Pathetica by Beethoven where she required the control she missed so much.
