Whenever he says, "Don't fucking move," it gives me chills. Every single time.
-
someone please tell me what the story is behind this song?
-
@davidmalone94 I live in Indiana, and I'm not sure that it ever literally "burned." It's difficult to describe if you haven't lived in a Midwestern town -- we're small. We're insignificant. We're a homogeneous, simple minded state. Broadripple was once a haven of culture and beauty in the center of a state most well-known for its corn fields. It turned into less of a beautiful, spontaneous place than a badge of honor for hipsters and we lament that. It's the Garden of Eden, post-expulsion.

@davidmalone94 This is the Daytrotter Sessions version

Is this the original version? I own Not Animal, and the version on that is a lot different than this, just how it sounds and what the lyrics are.

deeper than any thing ive ever heard.... my heart hurts good
People can' explain this song, because they were once or still are from Indiana, and they remember what Broadripple used to be, and god damnit it was sad, but it was so beautiful, it was a place to smile, it was a place to cry, it was a place to escape, but it was never a place to fight, it was never a place to riot, it was once Broadripple, and it was once where people in Indiana could go to feel HUMAN for a while. Broadripple R.I.P.
