Pad Thai is a dish made inexpensively by street vendors in Thailand and rather expensively in restaurants everywhere else. This is a very basic example of Pad Thai. There are many ways to ditz it up but the main flavor comes from the sauce. I use Tamarind paste as a basis for the sauce but many restaurants do not. You can use a fry pan instead of wok and commercial Pad Thai sauce instead of making your own.

  • where do you get the tamarind paste?

i looked in my local asian market and another asian store but i can't find it, i only find tamarind soup base mix, concentrate, or the actaul wet tamarind :(

  • @sexxyinuyasha I found it in a Chinese grocery. What I get comes in a thick, almost square bar and is not refrigerated when you buy it. It takes a bit of work to get the juice out but I think you can also buy it in a jar. I haven't seen that.

  • It is wonderful to see Americans cooking different types of cuisines and you did a great job! May I suggest that if your wok is seasoned (i'm not sure if yours just didn't bronze), it can really enhance the flavor of anything you stir fry. I love how you even included a traditional Thai melody to your video, keep up the great work!

  • @MNTsunami Thank you, MNTsunami. That's very nice of you to say. I think you are right about the wok. I need to study up on seasoning it properly.

  • I'd rather just get a big bowl of pad thai at the local mall for $7 instead of spending like $30 on groceries to make this once every month.

  • @tarantula152 LOL! (Me too, actually)

  • @tarantula152 The thing is padthai is real easy to make, and most of the ingredients don't go bad. So I'd prefer spending money for the initial ingredients and making it myself.

  • @Perroquet51 But thanks for putting up the recipe for times when I don't want to go to the mall and have all that shit in my fridge/cabinets lol

  • Looks delicious & nice presentation at the end.

  • Yum!
