RIAT 2009 Fairford Part 1 of 4

Footage from the saturday's performance of the Royal International Air Tattoo 2009. Featuring the Gripen, FA/18, BBMF, Vulcan plus many more. Unfortunatley due to the poor traffic organisation, we got in a couple of hours late so missed the Rafale and B52 plus a few others. However some good planes and clips remain. Thanks for the info, I looked up the Gripen. Nice plane but it has some serious shortcomings that are not obvious at an airshow, not the least of which is it's very limited combat radius. That would exclude its use by most air forces in the world.

But it sure is a nice looking plane.

Typhoon display was boring , just showing afterburners and high speed , nothing impressive . The best display was for the Rafale !!! Wonderfull !!

Actually, if the Swiss are totally neutral, peaceful and impartial, why do they need an Air Force???

Why people talking about F16?

If you talking about F16, you can also name F-4 Phantom. Both are history.

Saab Gripen is new technology not

yesterdays. Some people compare old an new technology , why?

"PonenFFS", you have right but there is now an another generation with bigger radius. (fill up in the air)

Remember, this fighter can landing and take off at a countryroad.

Yeah its combat radius, etc is quite limited but it's built for Sweden and when they built it they had no intentions of selling it to bigger countries that needed an bigger combat radius..

Most of this is solved in Gripen NG (which is being developed).
