On its release date, popular memoir novelist Jen Lancaster made a personal appearance at DC's Barnes and Noble to sign her first novel, "If You Were Here." A John Hughes afficionado and HGTV fan, Lancaster explains how the novel takes a couple through their first homebuying experience... right in Hughes' neighborhood, no less!... and dishes on what she would say to the 80s icon if he were here.

An audience member asks the difference between writing a memoir and a novel, to which she responded: "Writing a novel is great because all of this *^&$ didn't actually have to happen to ME!"
