G1 Root users! How To WIPE EXT PARTITION! Fix Boot Loops! And other tips...

This is what EVERYONE needs to do when flashing in between Hero ROM's or even flashing one for the first time.

Not only will this usually solve or fix a boot loop, but it will also solve any other funny business when flashing a new Hero ROM (force closes, etc.)

Go to your Cyanogen recovery 1.4
Then select "enter console" (ALT+X)
(press enter)
#
# mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
# rm -rf /system/sd/*
# reboot recovery

So DO IT! And make sure you get all the spaces right! Don't be lazy! =p

This will delete all your apps you've saved to your SD if you're coming from Cyanogen or another Hero ROM that had automatic apps to SD -but that's just the price we pay to have a fully functioning STABLE Hero. =)

You can use Backup For Root users from the Market Place and in the app check ONLY apk. That will back up your apps for reinstalling later. Quick. Painless. And neat. =)

Oh. and when in console you can type in "ums_enable" to connect your phone to your computer to do a last second transfer (if you forgot something) like a ROM or whatevs. =p
It can be a lifesaver and will be your best friend. Just type in "ums_disable" when you're done.

Those are forward slashes not back slashes as he says. The commands typed on over the video are correct he just said them wrong.
